It is also important to keep a password that cannot be cracked easily. And therefore, try to have a long password and add a numerical number to it for added protection.

  • Lock your apps

    Most of the times, we have our Facebook logged in on our personal cell phones. Even though you are the only person who uses your phone, you never know what can go wrong. You might either misplace your phone or you may lead your phone unattended and your phone might fall into the wrong hands in which case one can easily access your Facebook ID.

    In such cases, make sure you add a lock to your Facebook app. This will ensure extra security.

    Avoid logging in Facebook from someone else’s phone or from a public computer or laptop. If you have to do so, try using the incognito mode and if you use the normal mode, make sure you delete the history.

    Also, every time you log in there comes an option of save password. Make sure you do not click save in a haste, click NEVER in such cases. And after your work in done, open the page to see if your password and id is not saved just to be on the safer side.

    Privacy settings are there for a reason and make sure you make the most of it. It is important to repeatedly check your Facebook privacy setting in order to ensure that your account is secured at all times. The more secure your privacy settings are, the better.

  • Be aware of third party log in

    Be aware of the LOG in with Facebook setting. A lot of times, if you want to log in different apps, they offer you options like login with Gmail or log in with Facebook. When you select the option login with Facebook, that app gets access to your Facebook account. While some apps are secure, there are various apps that do not provide any sort of security.

    In such cases it is important to see how much access are you giving to such apps and are you giving more access than required and how can one determine this?

    1. Step 1:- Click on your privacy settings
    2. Step 2:- Select the app setting
      You will see all the different third party apps that you have logged in with your Facebook account.
    3. Step 3:- Click on App edit
      This helps you determine how much of access have you granted to each particular app. Go ahead and check and see if you have given more access than required. Do not give permissions like contact no, access to friend’s list, post, interest, messages, etc.
    4. Step 4:- Remove unwanted apps
      If you aren’t going to use those apps, then the best thing to do is to delete those apps.
