Foods that encourage growth and development in kids

The initial years of growing up are the most crucial years for both the child as well as the parents. These years are like the building blocks. The growth and development of the kid depend upon the foods that they eat. Therefore, it is important that the parents focus on the health of the child.

    Eggs are one of the healthiest foods that we have. Eggs are high in protein, vitamins and nutrients. It strengthens the immune system, encourages growth and also helps in increasing brain productivity. Make sure you incorporate at least 1-2 eggs in the daily diet of your child. One of the best times to consume eggs is during Breakfast. You can consume it in any form boiled, scrambled or fried.

    Dairy products like milk, cheese and Greek yogurt are highly beneficial. They help in increasing the calcium level in the body which helps in strengthening bones, joints and teeth. A child with high calcium intake is less likely to suffer from arthritis and osteoporosis as an adult. Dairy products can be consumed at any point; however a glass of milk is said to more effective in the morning and before bed.

    Green leafy vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They promote good eyesight; strengthen brain cells and the immune system and also improve blood circulation. Kids can act quite fussy when it comes to green leafy vegetables and making kids consume it can be quite a task. So you can mix it in their food or prepare a mixed salad. Broccoli, Spinach, Cabbage and Kale are highly beneficial.

    We all have heard about the famous Almond, that helps in encouraging the brain productivity and memory. But besides almonds, other nuts are also highly beneficial. Walnuts, almonds, cashew nuts and Brazil nuts are highly beneficial. Make sure your child consumes a mixture of nuts on a daily basis.

    Fishes like salmon, tuna and sardines promote healthy muscles and joints and, reduce the chances of unwanted muscle strain and injury, encourage nerve development and strengthen eyesight. Fishes are packed with Omega 3 which is highly beneficial and are also available in the form of health supplements. Consult the doctor before giving your child fish oil supplement.

    It is natural that kids have a sweet touch, however, this sweet tooth might sometimes turn into a problem in the form of cavities and worms in the stomach. In such cases give your child dark chocolate but not too much. Apples and Plums are also beneficial, not only do they cater to the sweet tooth of your child, but the antioxidants in them also help in improving mental health.
